Gun Show - The Glennie Sportsman Club will hold a Gun Show on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00am-2:00pm at the Mikado American Legion, 2205 Alger Street in Mikado. Admission is $5, coffee, doughnuts, and a lunch available for purchase. For table availability call 937-416-5504. All Federal and State Firearms Laws apply.

 

Derby & Cinco de Mayo Dinner - American Legion Post #370 will host a Kentucky Derby Party and Cinco De Mayo Taco Dinner on Saturday, May 4th at the Post at 805 East Greenwood Road in Skidway Lake. Party starts at 3:00pm, dinner from 4:00-7:00pm. Karaoke and cash bar available. Everyone welcome. Call 989-836-2660 for more information.

 

Spring Concert - The Huron Shores Chorus Spring Concert, evoking our eaerth and springtime, performed by area singers with instrumental accompaniment will be held Sunday, Mary 5th beginning at 3:00pm at Tawas Area Presbyterian Church, 2095 East U.S. 23 in East Tawas. Free admission with donations accepted.

 

Taco/Nacho Night - The Barton City Eagles #4141 will host a Taco/Nacho Night on Sunday, May 5th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Lodge, 671 Sanborn Road in Barton City. Adults $8, kids 6-10 $4, 5 and under free. For more information call 989-736-3050.

 

Craft Project - The Alcona County Commission on Aging presents a Make & Take Firecracker Craft Project on Monday, May 6th from 12:30-3:30pm in the dinning hall at 207 South Church Street in Lincoln. Pre-registration is required so enough materials can be acquired by calling 989-334-3466

 

YAC Day - The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan will host the first YAC Day on Tuesday, May 7th. The 24-hour event is focused on fundraising for the Youth Advisory Councils. Visit CFNEM.org to donate online and to get more information on the Youth Advisory Councils serving the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan's nine county service area.

 

Grocery Giveaway - The Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency's Golden Grocery Giveaway for inclome eligible seniors sixty and older will held Tuesday, May 7th from 1:00-2:00pm at the Senior Center, 205 Church Street in Lincoln. For eligibility information call NEMSCA at 989-358-4712.

 

Auditions - The Tawas Bay Players are holding auditions for the comedy "Leaving Iowa" at the theatre, 401 Newman Street, East Tawas:

  • Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00pm
  • Thursday, May 9th at 7:00pm

Five men and five women are needed for various roles with performance dates July 12th-21st. No experience needed. Many producation and backstage personnel also needed. For more information visit TawasBayPlayers.com

 

Veterans Benefits Fair - The Iosco County Veterans Affairs Office and Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency will host the Lake Huron Veterans Benefits Fair on Thursday, May 9th from 10:00am-2:00pm in the East Tawas Community Center, 760 Newman Street, East Tawas. Invasive Species Class - Huron Pines is hosting a Level One Invasive Species Identification and Removal Training Class on Thursday, May 9th from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Tawas Point State Park Pavilion, 686 Tawas Beach Road. Limited to 25 people. Registration required at HuronPines.org.

 

Mother's Day Breakfast - The Alcona County Commission on Aging will host a Mother's Day Breakfast on Friday, May 10th at 8:30am at the Senior Center Dining Hall, 207 South Church Street in Lincoln. Scrambled eggs with meat, potatoes, coffee, orange juice, and milk. Tickets re $5 and available at the front desk. Reservations requested by Tuesday, May 7th. Call 989-334-3466

 

Theater Performances - The Tawas Bay Players present the drama "The Subject Was Roses" at the theater, 401 Newman Street, East Tawas:

  • Friday, May 10th at 7:00pm

  • Thursday, May 16th at 7:00pm

Tennis Camp Registration - Registration is open for the 4-day beginner t ennis camp June 10th-13th at the Oscoda Sports Complex on River Road in Oscoda. Cost is $30 per participant. Players receive a t-shirt and age-appropriate racket. Sessions split up by age group:

  • Ages 7-9: 5:15-6:10pm
  • Ages 10-12: 6:15-7:15pm
  • Agest 13-18: 7:15-8:30pm

Summer Concert Series - The Rotary Club of Oscoda presents the 2024 Summer Concert Series. All concerts are held on THURSDAY nights and begin at 7:00pm at the Oscoda Beach Bandshell. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Pop, popcorn, and snow cones will be sold. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to The AuSable Inn Riverview Restaurant. Oscoda Senior Center - Visit the Oscoda Senior Center located at 653 State Street SW in Oscoda. Enjoy great food, line dancing, cardio drumming, card games, crafts, board games, relaxation coloring, nature walks, the writing club, and meeting new friends and socializing with friends and neighbors. K of C Burger Night - Did you miss Fish and Burger Monday's at the Rushman Hall in East Tawas? Dinners are from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, dine in or take out.  There will be fish and a 1/2 lb Smash Burger and a whole lot more. So come on in for some fantastic food and burgers. Tawas Bingo - The Tawas Area Knights of Columbus Hosts Bingo Sundays at Rushman Hall, 821 Newman Street, East Tawas. Doors open at 4:00pm, Bingo starts at 6:00pm.

 

Hale Bingo - The Hale VFW hosts Bingo Sundays & Thursdays at the Hall, 203 Ainsley Street in Hale. Doors open at 3:30pm, Bingo starts at 6:00pm.

 

Mikado Bingo - The Mikado Goodfellos hosts Bingo Mondays at the Civic Center on F-41. Doors open at 4:00pm, Bingo at 6:30pm. Food available for puchase and all proceeds go to charity.

 

Sand Lake Bingo - The Sand Lake Heights Seniors host Bingo Tuesdays at the building in Sand Lake. Doors open at 11:00am, Bingo at Noon with proceeds to the Sand Lake Seniors.


Euchre Day - The Alcona County Commission on Aging hosts Euchre Day on Tuesdays beiginning at 12:30pm at the Senior Center, 207 South Church Street in Lincoln. Tickets are one dollar, 10 cents per Euchre, free popcorn and coffee. Call 989-334-3466 for more information.

 

Cancer Support - Friends Together, the cancer support agency serving all of northeast Michigan is holidng a support group Tuesdays at 5:30pm at Rushman Hall on Newman Street in East Tawas. Anyone who has been touched by cancer, or if you have a family member with a cancer diagnosis, you are welcome to the weekly support group. All Friends Together programs and services are free. Line Dancing - "Thursday Night at the V," Line Dancing Class will be held Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm at VFW Lodge #3735, 240 Chrysler in Oscoda. Sand Lake Bingo - The Sand Lake Heights Men's Association will host Bingo with a Michigan Progressive Jackpot, Fridays at the building in Sand Lake. Doors open at 5:00pm, Bingo at 6:00pm.

 

Food Pantry - If you or someone you know is in need of food, there is a free food pantry available at the United Methodist Church in Oscoda. The Pantry is located by the entry doors nearest to the church parsonage. The Pantry is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Pantry is refilled by community donations. All items are free to those who need them.

 

Baby Needs - If you or someone you know is in need of free supplies for babies or toddlers, such as diapers, pull-ups, wipes, or rash cream, these are avaiable through Iosco County MDHHS. You must be a resident of Iosco County to qualify. As the front desk staff at MDHHS for more information: Iosco County MDHHS, 2145 East Huron Road, East Tawas, MI 48730.
